BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) - Pool season is right around the corner, and experts recommend getting a head start on opening it.
The cooler water right now helps with the chemicals it takes to clear the water before swimming.
Pool experts recommend opening up your pool before the water reaches 60 degrees.
Once it gets warmer, there could be more issues.
"The cooler temperatures prohibit algae growth, to be blunt about it, and once the water reaches a certain temperature, it allows that to start growing. We have a few people who wait until July to open up because it's not warm enough to swim. They are the ones who are going to have issues," said Justin Luckey, of The Great Escape.
A newer item to consider adding to your pool is a cartridge system. This adds natural minerals to help keep the water clean and you don't have to handle the chlorine.
