YSU Softball eliminated from Horizon League Tournament

CHICAGO, Illinois (WKBN) – The Youngstown State Softball Team fell to Oakland and Northern Kentucky to end their brief run in the 2019 Horizon League Championship.

The #3 Penguins dropped game one to the Golden Grizzlies, 6-4 in fifteen innings. Addy Jarvis started the contest, and tossed 13 innings, allowing four earned runs with 12 strikeouts.

Elizabeth Birkbeck hit a two-run home run in the second inning to give YSU an early 2-0 lead.

The loss to Oakland forced YSU to face Northern Kentucky in an elimination game Wednesday night. The Norse blanked the Penguins, 6-0. YSU was held to just five hits in the setback.

YSU ends the campaign with a record of 25-29.
