The Youngstown State men notched their first win of the season Monday night in their home opener, knocking off Division III Heidelberg 106-83.
The game was closer than the final score, the Student Princes were down just 8 at the half and then cut the deficit to just three with 13 minutes left in the 2nd half before the Penguins went on a 20-5 run to pull away.
Heidelberg shot 14 of 41 (34%) from three, compared to just 4 of 17 (23.5%) for YSU.
Garrett Covington led the way for YSU with 21 points while Olamide Pederson had his second-straight double-double, notching 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In all, six Penguins scored in double-figures.
Heidleberg was led by Myron Prewitt who had 24.
YSU moves to 1-2 on the year and hit the road later in the week to travel to New York to take part in the Johnny Bach Classic against Columbia, Fordham and Florida International.
