Ursuline’s Jeremy Kreuzwieser scored the go-ahead run on an error in the top of the seventh inning to help Ursuline to an 8-7 win over previously unbeaten Springfield Wednesday night.
The Tigers rallied from a 7-3 deficit in the fifth inning. Clayton Nezbeth came through with a two-run double to cut the deficit to 7-6. Springfield later tied the game at 7-7 when Nezbeth scored on a wild-pitch.
Jeremy Kreuzwieser led the Irish with three hits in the win. Colon Balas, Vince Armeni, Andrew Sabella tallied two hits apiece for Ursuline. Armeni hit a three-run home run in the win for the Irish.
Springfield was led at the plate by Mitch Seymour who finished with a pair of hits. Clayton Nezbeth and Chris Thompson each recorded a double in the setback.
Glen Griswold picked up the win on the mound, tossing five innings, allowing seven runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Joel Kreuzwieser picked up a two-inning save with a pair of strikeouts for the Irish.
With the win, Ursuline improves to 3-6. Springfield drops to 9-1 on the campaign.
