YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)-The Youngstown Phantoms scored first but saw Sioux Falls score 4-straight goals Friday night to grab the win 4-1.
The Phantoms opened the scoring just four minutes into the first period when Ben Schoen found the back of the net on the powerplay to make it 1-0. It was Schoen’s fifth goal of the season.
But after that, it was all Stampede. With under 3 minutes to go in the first, Jared Westcott beat Chad Veltri on the powerplay to even the score at the end of the period.
The game would stay 1-1 until Carl Berglund gave Sioux Falls the lead just over five minutes into the 2nd period to make it 2-1.
Berglund added another to his tally under a minute in the 3rd period to make it 3-1, the Stampede would add an empty net goal late in the period to finish off the scoring.
The two teams are back in action Saturday at 7:05PM.
