Sectional Champs: Ursuline Softball rolls past Howland

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Ursuline topped Howland 12-2 in the Division II Softball Sectional Final Wednesday at the YSU Softball Complex.

Irish Pitcher Emily Holland won her 12th game of the season, tossing 4 2/3 innings, allowing just three hits with five strikeouts. At the plate she notched an RBI double on the day.

Gia Caldrone had four hits, including two doubles and 4 RBI. Destiny Goodnight also had four hits, with four runs scored, 3 stolen bases, and 2 RBI. 

Alyssa Sheely added a single, triple and 3 runs scored while Julia Nutter hit a single and double and 3 RBI. Emma Ericson also had two hits for the Lady Irish.

For the Lady Tigers, Bailey Beasom had 3 hits and Emily O’Connell had 2 hits.

Ursuline improves to 22-2 on the season. Ursuline advances to face the winner of Salem/West Branch next Tuesday at YSU in the District Semifinals.
