PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially released rookie quarterback Chris Oladokun.
NFL teams were required to cut their training camp rosters from 85 to 80 on Tuesday.
Oladokun was Pittsburgh’s final selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was taken at No. 241 in the seventh round of the NFL Draft.
However, he did not appear in either of the Steelers’ first two preseason games.
During his final college season, Oladokun threw for 3,164 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Last October against Youngstown State, Oladokun completed 16-22 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown for SDSU. He also rushed for an additional touchdown in the 47-16 win over YSU.
The team also cut four other players including former Cleveland Browns’ linebacker Genard Avery, wide receiver Christian Blake, running back Mataeo Durant, and kicker Nick Sciba.
Avery was originally drafted by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and signed as an unrestricted free agent in March.
Blake previously played three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, while Durant was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft.
Sciba connected on a pair of field goal attempts in preseason action.
