YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)-The Arizona Coyotes have acquired the NHL rights to Phantoms forward Max Letunov from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for veteran NHL defenseman Zbynek Michalek, and a conditional third-round draft pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. Letunov was drafted by the Blues in the second round of last June’s NHL Draft, with the 52nd overall pick.

“Maxim is a big, skilled center with excellent upside,” said Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney. “He will play at Boston University next season who do a great job developing players. We are excited to have him join our organization.”

Letunov is currently second on the team and third in the USHL in scoring with 53 points, (22g, 31a), and is currently riding an eight-game point streak, accounting for seven goals and four assists over that span. Through 107 career USHL games, Letunov has totaled 41 goals and 55 assists for 96 total points.

The Moscow, RUS, native is committed to Boston University following his USHL career.
