The Jackson-Milton baseball team has finally overcome their biggest playoff foe.

The Blue Jays defeated Western Reserve, 4-3 Saturday in a Division IV Sectional Final at Western Reserve High School.

With the win, Jackson-Milton advances to the District Semifinals against top-seeded Springfield. Western Reserve ended the Blue Jays season the past three years, all in the District Championship by a combined four runs.

Jackson-Milton senior Sebastian Lay led the way from the mound, throwing 8 strikeouts, allowing 6 hits with no walks in a complete game effort. Lay also set the school’s single-season strikeout record Saturday, with 129 strikeouts on the season.

Dom Velasquez threw 9 strikeouts for Reserve, giving up four earned runs in 7 innings of work.

All of Jackson-Milton’s runs came in the first inning. Joey Williams ripped an RBI single, then Luke Campbell came through with a three-run inside the park home run.

Western Reserve made it a 4-3 game in the 6th inning, thanks to an RBI single from Caleb Quinn.

Jackson-Milton will play Springfield next Thursday at Cene Park. First pitch set for 4 PM.
