CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Indians have promoted outfielder Oscar Mercado to their 25-man roster after placing Tyler Naquin on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.

Mercado will make his major league debut with Cleveland on Tuesday, starting in left field and batting 6th when the Indians face the Chicago White Sox.

The 24-year old is hitting .294 with 10 doubles, 1 triple, 4 homeruns and 15 RBI in 30 games at Triple-A Columbus. Mercado also currently leads the International League in steals with 14, and has scored 24 runs.

Mercado is ranked as the 19th best prospect in the Indian’s farm system, according to mlb.com. The Tampa, Florida native was acquired in a trade last July from the St. Louis Cardinals.
