Harris pours in 33 as Ursuline wins Sectional Title; Irish advance to play Mooney at Districts

The Ursuline girls basketball team is heading back to the District Tournament.

Senior Dayshanette Harris scored a game-high 33 points, helping the Irish defeat Struthers, 68-60 in a Division II Sectional Final at Ursuline High School.

After a back-and-forth first quarter, Ursuline pulled away for a 37-18 halftime lead. They extended their lead to 24 at the end of the third quarter, but the Wildcats rallied late to make things interesting.

Anyah Curd scored 13 points for the Irish. Struthers was paced by Emma Elia with 25 points, while Trinity McDowell scored 13.

In the end, Ursuline (16-7) held on for the victory, sending them to the District Semifinals next Monday in a rematch with rival Cardinal Mooney. Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m. at Austintown Fitch High School.

Struthers finishes their season with a 15-9 overall record.
