HUBBARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Hubbard’s unbeaten record was threatened at times on Friday night, but the Eagles ultimately held off Girard 29-15 behind three touchdown runs from star running back T.C. Caffey.

Caffey will enter week nine on the verge of a 2,000 yard season.

Ben Wilcox put the Eagles on the board first with a 21-yard touchdown run with just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Caffey’s successful two-point conversion gave Hubbard an 8-0 lead.

Girard tied the game with the first play of the second quarter with Anthony Bengala’s touchdown and a successful two-point conversion of their own.

With just over three minutes left of the first half, Caffey found the endzone from a yard out to re-take the lead, 15-7.

In the opening drive of the second half, Caffey found the endzone again from a yard out to extend the Eagles’ lead to double digits. After the extra point was good, the lead was 22-8.

Caffey scored from 13 yards out on the first play of the next possession that was set up by a blocked punt by the Eagles’ special teams unit to extend the lead to 29-8.

Nick Malito pulled in a 94-yard touchdown pass from Bengala on the ensuing Indians possession to close the gap to 29-15.

The Indians turned the ball over deep in Hubbard territory in the fourth quarter as they mounted a comeback attempt, sealing the game.

Girard (4-4) will visit Struthers in week nine. Hubbard (8-0) will visit Niles.
