Girard downs JFK thanks to 3-run third inning

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Girard’s 3-run third was all the Indians would need to notch an impressive 3-2 win over Kennedy. Austin Claussell’s 2-run double scored Devin Dutton and Jayden Maggs. Then, Nick DeGregory followed up with a run scoring single to give the Indians a 3-0 lead. Junior Matt Miles went the distance on the mound by throwing 7 innings of 2-run ball with 3 strikeouts.

The Eagles featured four players with 2 hits – Gavin Shrum, Isaac Hadley, Cameron Hollobaugh, and Tim Klaben. Hadley tallied a triple. Hollobaugh, JFK’s cleanup hitter, drove in both runs. A.J. Arp allowed 3 hits, all of Girard’s runs were unearned, and he struck out 7. JFK will play at Howland on Monday.

Girard is set to close out their league schedule next week when they play at Lakeview on Monday and then host the Bulldogs the next day.
