GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield’s bid to reach week 14 of the 2021 season fell short Friday night in the ‘Game of the Week’, losing to Chardon 27-14 in the Division III OHSAA High School Football Playoffs.

Sean Carr led the way for the Hilltoppers with four rushing touchdowns in the game.

Carr had two rushing touchdowns for the Hilltoppers in the first half and took a 14-0 lead into the locker room. He finished with 142 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the win for Chardon.

Hilltoppers’ Quarterback Alex Henry rushed for 95 yards.

Broc Lowry found Oliver Kovass for a touchdown pass in the third quarter to cut the lead in half and trailed 14-7 after three quarters.

Lowry finished the game completing 18-31 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown.

He also rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown in the loss for the Cardinals.

Carr’s third touchdown came in the opening moments of the fourth quarter to push the Hilltoppers’ lead back to two scores. His fourth TD came midway through the fourth and extended the lead again.

A Lowry rushing touchdown gave the Cardinals their second score of the game but the Cardinals were unable to find any more points in the final minutes.

Canfield finishes the season with an 11-2 record. Chardon (13-0) will now take on Dover (12-0) who defeated Kenston in their playoff matchup.
