AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Ursuline’s Jakylan Irving blocked Josiah Berni’s potential game-winning field goal as Ursuline held off Austintown Fitch 48-47 Friday night in the WKBN High School Football Game of the Week.

Demarcus McElroy rushed for 353 yards and four touchdowns in the win for the Irish.

Trailing by a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Austintown Fitch’s Tyree Mitchell found the endzone on a 5-yard touchdown run, cutting the deficit to 48-47.

Fitch elected to go for two, and was turned away on a Devin Sherwood incomplete pass.

The Falcons then recovered the onside kick, which later led to the last second field goal attempt.

Irish Quarterback Brady Shannon completed 13-17 passes for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Austintown Fitch Quarterback Devin Sherwood rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the setback.

Running Backs Tyree Mitchell DJ Williams scored two touchdowns apiece for the Falcons.

With the win, Ursuline improves to 3-1 on the season. The Irish return to action in week five on the road against Warren Harding.

Austintown Fitch drops to 2-1 overall. The Falcons visit Cardinal Mooney next week.
