Fitch downs Poland in a 2-hit shutout

Brett Porter and Bobby Cavalier combined for a 2-hit, shutout in Fitch’s 5-0 win tonight over Poland. Porter began the contest by throwing 5 innings. Cavalier came in relief and pitched the final two innings, not allowing a hit, and striking out 2. The Falcons’ 4, 5, and 6 hitters went 7-12 (.583). Fitch’s cleanup hitter TJ Piroch went 2 for 4 with a double. Lorenzo Russo also batted .500 tonight (2-4) with 2 runs scored and a double. Junior catcher Casey Bokesch also had a double and finished the contest 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

Poland’s two hits came from Braden Olson and Mike Kushner. The Bulldogs were able to draw 4 walks as well. Senior Jared Knight struck out 5 in his 5 innings of work on the hill. Poland (4-2) will welcome Champion on Saturday at noon.

Fitch improves to 4-2 with a doubleheader with Lakeview at home set for Saturday at 11 am.
