Champion’s Allison Smith shines as Diamond King contender

The high school softball season is now in full swing, and the defending state champs are off to another fantastic start.

The Champion  have won seven of their first eight games, and are averaging just under ten runs per game.

Champion Junior Allison Smith is leading the way for the Golden Flashes, hitting a staggering .667 with five home runs in eight games.

Smith is also a  perfect 3-0 in the circle with 35 strikeouts, and a .41 ERA.

“I don’t think our expectations are much different than they are every year,” Smith said. “But i don’t think we’re walking into this season saying that we expect to win a state championship. I think we expect to perform to the best of our abilities and we expect a 100% effort to be put out so if luck is on our side, it’ll let it happen but our expectations are to come out, play well, have fun, and have a good time while we’re playing well.”

The Ohio State commit has previously been named a WKBN Diamond King twice before, and she is well on her way to a third.
