CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield rallied past Ursuline 58-50 in boys high school boys basketball action on Tuesday night.
The victory marked the 600th career win for Cardinals’ head coach John Cullen.
Cullen has 39 years of coaching experience on his resume, and has served as a head coach at four different programs in the Valley, including Badger, Brookfield, Canfield and South Range.
His 600 career wins ranks among the top-20 all-time in the state of Ohio.
Cullen has won seven district championships during his career, and was recently inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Now in his second coaching stint at Canfield, Cullen is in his 29th season leading the Cardinals to a mark of 436-187.
Tony Russo led the way for the Cardinals with 21 points on the night.
Terrance Pankey led the Irish with 14 points in the setback.
With the loss, Ursuline drops to 3-1 on the season. The Irish will host Grand River Academy on Saturday.
Canfield improves to 3-1 on the campaign. The Cardinals will return to action on Friday night on the road at Cardinal Mooney.
