Youngstown police: Suspect killed man during marijuana sale


YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – U.S. Marshals said a Youngstown murder suspect has surrendered to police.

Marshals named 18-year-old Mark Anthony Winlock, Jr. as their Fugitive of the Week on Monday morning.

Winlock is suspected in the shooting death of Brandon Wareham.

Police say Wareham went to a house on Rhoda Avenue to sell marijuana, and at some point, the sale turned deadly.

“During the transaction, it was interrupted by a robbery. During the robbery, he was shot by the suspect — his name is Mark Anthony Winlock, Jr.,” said Youngstown Police Lt. Doug Bobovnyik.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots coming from the house on Rhoda Avenue. When police arrived, Wareham was found dead inside of a car parked in the driveway.

He’s facing charges of aggravated murder.

Police also say this weekend’s murder is the first homicide in the city this year.Brandon Wareham Obituary
