YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown Police are investigating a body found in a burning car on the side of Seifert and Knapp avenues.

Police said a neighbor driving by Friday afternoon noticed someone who appeared to be passed out in the car. When she returned an hour later, she told them the car was on fire.

The Youngstown Fire Department was called to put out the fire and when firefighters arrived, they found a deceased person in the driver’s seat of the car.

“There was no obvious signs of trauma but the damage was extensive due to the fire. The coroner’s office is investigating for a cause of death,” said Capt. Brad Blackburn.

Police have a tentative identification but are not releasing information yet. They are also waiting on the Mahoning County Coroner to determine the cause of death and whether it was due to foul play.

Police said there were no obvious signs of arson at the scene.
