WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – One person is in police custody after a SWAT situation in Warren Monday night.

A large crowd gathered before 9 p.m. after seeing a police presence and the SWAT team at a house near the corner of Dickey Avenue and Ward Street.

Police say the incident started just before 7 p.m. when they were called to a gas station on Parkman Road where a woman there said she was having problems with a man, later identified as 38-year-old Lamar Mitchell, of Youngstown.

Police searched the area for the man but couldn’t find him, but they did discover that Mitchell had several outstanding warrants.

A short time later, officers were called to a house on Dickey Avenue on reports of a man assaulting a woman.

The woman, who was the same person that talked to police at the gas station, let officers in the house. As they were searching the home for Mitchell, they called out several times for him to come out with his hands up. At one point, police Mitchell said, “I will shoot you.”

At that point, a perimeter was set up around the house and the Crisis Response Team was called.

After several hours, Mitchell came out of the house and was taken into custody.

No one was hurt.
