Struthers unveils 3 new monuments for fallen soldiers

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Those living in Struthers have a new memorial to remember those who gave their lives for the country.

Three new monuments were unveiled outside of the high school on Monday by the Struthers Fallen Soldier Project. The monuments honor 74 men — all from Struthers — who died while in service.

Organizers said until Monday, only a small plaque inside the school named 47 men who died in World War II. After doing some research, they found more fallen heroes from Struthers, and those names were added to the monument.

“These were all young men, most of them right out of high school… Our people were everywhere during the wars, and a lot of them made the sacrifices and I don’t want them forgotten,” said event organizer Patrick Bundy.

Those with information on other Struthers residents who were killed in the Armed Forces can send an email to contact@struthersfallensoldiers.com.

You can see all of those who were recognized at www.struthersfallensoldiers.com.
