There’s a new top apple in the United States.
According to the U.S. Apple Association, Gala is projected to be the top produced apple across the country.
That means red delicious apples, which topped the list for more than 50-years will fall to second place.
Gala production is estimated to rise to nearly 52.5 million pounds by the end of 2018.
Red delicious meanwhile is expected to fall to just under 52 million this year.
Granny Smith is expected to land in third place, followed by Fuji and Honeycrisp respectively.
