PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – A tree that came down on a house just outside of Pittsburgh trapped a man inside.

The tree came down just before 3 a.m. Wednesday on a house on Deer Run Dr., trapping a man inside a bedroom.

According to rescue workers at the scene, the man was in bed sleeping when the tree crashed through the home. The tree is estimated to be at least 18-inches in diameter and some 80-feet high.

The man was trapped for about an hour and 35 minutes while crews secured the tree and stabilized the home to free him. A doctor from Forbes Hospital responded to the scene to treat him during the ordeal. He was taken away in an ambulance.
