HARRISBURG, Pa. (WKBN/AP) – Pennsylvania has reported its first death from the new coronavirus.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health identified the victim as an adult from Northampton County and said the adult was treated at a hospital.
“Pennsylvanians have a very important job right now — stay calm, stay home and stay safe,” said Dr. Rachel Levine, secretary of health. “We have seen case counts continue to increase and the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is stay home.”
On Wednesday, the department said there are 37 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total to 133 — a nearly 40% jump.
All of those people are either in isolation at home or being treated at a hospital.
