LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Kellogg’s has confirmed it’s expanding its footprint in Lancaster County.
The company says they will be the tenant of a 905,000 square foot distribution center being built off State Road in East Hempfield Township.
Township manager Cindy Schweitzer said the facility is expected to have at least 125 employees. Lancaster County Commissioner Joshua Parsons said it’s thrilling to hear the news about the jobs.
“We want businesses, individuals to come here and businesses to expand and provide good family-sustaining jobs,” Parsons said.
For years, others have considered potential development on the site just off Route 283. Parsons said that’s because it’s a good location.
“The county and the township have designated that area as a good place for growth and industrial growth,” he said. “It’s away from residential and it’s along 283, which is a major transportation corridor.”
Kellogg’s already operates a cereal-making facility on State Road, which is right across the street from where the construction is happening.
Site developers say they’re also looking to build a hotel and convenience store on the property.
The goal is to have the center open in November.
