Hermitage to see traffic changes during bridge replacement

Pennsylvania

Crews are expected to start the replacement project for an East State Street bridge in Hermitage in April.

According to PennDOT, the two eastbound lanes along East State Street will be closed west of the Wick Avenue intersection. They said eastbound traffic will be directed onto one of the westbound lanes from April 1 to June 14.

The project will replace the 15-foot bridge over a branch of Pine Run with a reinforced concrete box culvert, the press release said.

Westbound traffic will then be directed onto one of the eastbound lanes until August 7.

The bridge replacement is part of a project to improve East State Street rom the Route 18 intersection to Forker Boulevard in Sharon.

The project includes upgrades to drainage, traffic signals and curb ramps.

PennDOT said the project should be finished by early fall. Weather delays could push back the schedule of the project.
