ROSS COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) – The woman who was facing charges for leaving her caged dog with permanent marker on its body in a Ross County, Ohio park has been sentenced.
On Friday in Chillicothe Municipal Court, Kendra Stafford pleaded guilty to one count of abandoning an animal. One count of animal cruelty was dismissed.
According to court records, Stafford was sentenced to one year of community service, fined $100 plus court costs and she can’t own or keep dogs.
Stafford has said in the past that her landlord would not let her keep the dog but she wanted it to have a good home. After writing “FREE” and “GOOD HOME ONLY” on the animal, she realized it was a mistake.
The puppy, Marvella, now has a new family.
