Ohio victim of fatal hit-skip dragged nearly 6 blocks to recreation center

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Columbus police are searching for a hit-skip driver who struck and killed a woman and dragged her body nearly six blocks to Driving Park Recreation Center.

The suspect was driving a silver vehicle that would have heavy front-end damage, police said.

The woman’s body was discovered just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at 1100 Rhoads Ave. Police are withholding the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.

The initial crash took place in the area of East Whittier Street and Fairwood Avene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

The vehicle will have frontend damage. 

The investigation into the homicide is ongoing, officials said.

Anyone with information regarding this crash should contact the Accident Investigation Unit.

The identity of Ms. Doe is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This is the city’s 11th traffic-related fatality of 2019.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case, police said.
