Ohio University issues alert after woman says she was kidnapped, raped

ATHENS, Ohio (WCMH) — Ohio University has issued a crime alert after a report of a rape on campus early Sunday morning.

According to the alert, the female victim was walking with acquaintances near Grosvenor Street around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. She told police the acquaintances forced her into a vehicle.

She was driven to her residence hall room, where she said she was raped.

Police described the suspect as a white man between 6’0″ and 6’5″ tall. He has a muscular build, dark hair and dark eyes.

This is the second rape reported on campus in the last two weeks.

According to police, another woman reported she was walking from Mill Street toward Crawford Hall late on August 25 when a man came out of a residence hall, pulled her inside and raped her. The suspect in that case was described as a tall man with blonde hair.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Ohio University police at 740-593-1911.
