COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – State Senator Michael Rulli Wednesday addressed the Ohio Chamber of Commerce in Columbus, laying out plans to make Ohio the leader in electric vehicle manufacturing.

Rulli announced the “Accelerating Ohio’s Auto Industry” bill.

One aspect would create a task force involving government and private industry.

Rulli says automakers will invest more than $300 billion by 2025 to transition to electric vehicles.

“We want to make all EV parts in Ohio. Not just the vehicles, not just the batteries, but all the parts that go along with it. You see this with Foxconn getting involved with the Voltage Valley and the excitement in the world, and they realize Ohio is the epicenter of the EV revolution,” he said.

Rulli says he wants to see a large expansion of EV charging stations in Ohio since Interstates 80 and 90 run through the state and connect the country.
