Ohio House passes bill that would get rid of school CEOs

COLUMBUS (WKBN) – The Ohio House passed a bill on Wednesday that would eliminate Academic Distress Commissions and the CEOs that run them.

House Bill 154 would create improvement teams for each building getting an F grade and the team would develop an improvement plan for each building with the school board’s approval.

The bill passed 82 to 12. It needs to be approved by the State Senate and governor before becoming law.

There are reports that some in the Senate are not sold on the House plan, so the debate will continue.
