COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Federal Investigators conducted search warrants on five Columbus area locations Tuesday in connection with the federal case against former Columbus Police Vice Officer Andrew Mitchell.

Mitchell is accused of forcing two women to have sex with him or face prostitution charges. He also faces unrelated murder and voluntary manslaughter charges in Franklin County for the August 2018 shooting death of 23-year-old Donna Castleberry.

Residents of a North Columbus Apartment complex Mitchell owns say they heard a loud ‘Boom’ around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning and when they looked outside FBI agents were knocking on the doors of two units.

Neighbors say federal agents were at the complex until early afternoon, hauling out black trash bags of evidence, couch cushions and pillows as well as rent money collected by a woman who works for Mitchell.

Federal Investigators say the evidence collected will be presented before a Federal Grand Jury considering additional charges against Mitchell on May 18.

Mitchell is currently in federal custody.

Mitchell’s attorney says he is not guilty of the federal and state court charges against him.
