An assault in Cleveland is gaining national attention as support for the person who attacked a teen is growing.
Last week, Eastlake police arrested Ricky Adams, 20, on charges of felonious assault after he beat up a 17-year-old who he says he caught molesting a 5-year-old boy.
Adams says he walked into a laundry room where he lives and saw the 17-year-old sexually assaulting the child.
“I pushed the 17-year-old off of him and then he said, “‘What are you going to do about it?'” That’s where I kind of blacked out,” Adams said.
Police say Adams beat up the 17-year-old and posted a video of the aftermath of the beating on Facebook. The video has since been removed.
Adam says the attack triggered a memory from his own childhood when he was molested.
The 17-year-old in the case is facing rape charges.
Support for Adams is growing. A Gofundme account has already generated more than $30,000 for his legal defense.
