The hunt for the person accused of murdering a 15-year-old girl while she was reportedly on the phone with her mother ended on Wednesday, News4Utah reports.
Shaun French, 24, was taken into custody in Colorado. He is a suspect in the teen’s murder.
Police said Baleigh Bagshaw was “violently attacked” Monday at her home.
“Baleigh had called her mother to check in after arriving home from school,” a press release from Salt Lake City police said. “While on the phone with her mother, [she] was violently attacked by an intruder.”
Tuesday afternoon, police revealed there was an active warrant out for French for unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
“This warrant stems from an earlier involvement with the victim,” police said.
Police believed French could have been heading to the Cleveland area along the I-80 corridor. They said he was considered “armed and dangerous.”
