DES MOINES, IA (CNN Newsource) — Democratic presidential candidate and Valley Congressman Tim Ryan made his first campaign stops in Iowa.

Ryan introduced himself to voters on Sunday at a Des Moines brewing company.

He said he will set himself apart from other Democrats in the race by focusing on basic issues like economics, education and health — but with a different spin.

“Can’t just be the same old thing, it’s gotta be like, ‘Look, we need a new education system, we need a new economic vision and new economic system, we need a health care system that focuses more on prevention,'” Ryan said. “I think that can get people excited because it’s going to take everybody to help develop that.”
