PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (CNN Newsource) – President Donald Trump held a rally in Panama City, Florida on Wednesday night. The now-empty GM Lordstown plant was among the topics he discussed.
“That was the only thing they could hit me with,” Trump said. “They could never hit me with anything because we’ve been so good, but they say, ‘What about Lordstown? What about Lordstown?'”
He said he’s ready to see something happen with the facility.
“Will you make a deal or open it, please? I’m getting killed with that plant anyway. Today she called, ‘It’s going to be opening. It’s gonna be a great company going there, really wonderful.'”
On Wednesday, GM announced the Lordstown facility could be sold to Workhorse, a small company that makes electric trucks. The UAW union would still need to approve it.
GM closed the plant in March, eliminating about 1,700 jobs.
