Pope will ‘not say a single word’ on call to resign

National and World

Pope Francis apologized for the Catholic Church’s crimes in Ireland, during a weekend visit.

On his flight back to Italy, Pope Francis said he will ‘not say a single word’ when asked to comment on a letter written by an archbishop calling for him to resign.

The letter accused the Pope of knowing about sexual abuse allegations against Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and did nothing about it.

During an apology he read during mass — he said church officials regularly didn’t respond with compassion to the many abuses children and women suffered over the years.
