DOUGLAS CO., Colo. (CNN Newsource) – One of the suspects in the shooting at STEM school Highlands Ranch made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
Devon Erickson, 18, is expected back in court on Friday when charges will be formally filed.
Erickson did not enter a plea.
He’s currently being held on suspicion of one count of first-degree murder and 29 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
A female under 18 is also in custody.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old student Kendrick Castillo was shot and killed trying to stop the shooter.
Eight people were hurt. As of Wednesday morning, five had been released from hospitals and three were still in intensive care.
