Issue 2 is a measure that will appear on the Mahoning County ballot this November.
It would provide funding for the county’s Mental Health and Recovery Board.
While the agency currently uses a pair of levies for support, the measure facing voters this fall would combine the two and, over time, save money for taxpayers while boosting revenue for Children’s Services.
“What our plans are for our board is when it passes, we’ll let the .5 lapse in two years,” said Duane Piccirilli, with the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board. “Right now with the additional million dollars, we’ll be putting money in, providing crisis response teams for the schools.”
The combined levy would raise nearly $5.5 million a year for five years.
