YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Runners enjoyed the brisk air during the 30th annual Mill Creek Distance Classic in Youngstown Sunday morning.
Runners could participate in the half-marathon or the 5-mile run. The course took runners past Lanterman's Mill, the falls, a cascade and Mill Creek.
Brent Martin, the winner of the half marathon, said it was a challenging course, but it was worthwhile because he is training for the Boston Marathon.
"I've never been out. I always coached in the spring, but it will be fun to go out this year. It's on spring break. I teach high school so my wife and I are going to make a trip of it on the east coast," Martin said.
The proceeds from Sunday's race help support the Youngstown Road Runners Club Endowment to YSU. It also benefits the YRRC Shoe Program for high school athletes.
