YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Star teachers and parents in the Youngstown City School District were honored Friday night during the 13th annual Title I Conference at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The theme of the evening was “moving forward together.”

Parents and teachers were recognized for going above and beyond in working with students so they can relate to one another.

Outgoing CEO Krish Mohip said he looks forward to speaking with the man who will replace him, Justin Jennings.

“That’s always been a part of the plan, I mean, the reason I let the Academic Distress Commission know back in October that I wasn’t seeking a contract renewal is so that we could plan for a seamless transition. So we’ll have time to come together to share what we’ve done, what steps we still need to take to continue the progress,” Mohip said.

The conference aligns with one of Mohip’s goals, to improve parent, family and community engagement.

When Jennings officially takes over as CEO, Mohip said he’ll be headed back to Chicago.
