YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It could be a while longer before a busy intersection between Youngstown and Boardman can reopen after a serious water main break Friday morning.

It happened at South Avenue and Midlothian Boulevard, near Rite Aid, flooding the intersection.

At one point, water was bubbling up from nearly a half-dozen spots in the road, causing sections of the asphalt to heave and fall from the pressure.

According to the City Water Department, the road will be closed through the weekend. A 12-inch mainline will have to be repaired.

Crews will be back out on Monday to determine the next steps, but at this time, the intersection will remain closed until at least Monday.

Crews are out at a flooded intersection at South Avenue and Midlothian Boulevard.
