YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man from Austintown is facing charges after police said he swallowed a suspected bag of crack cocaine during a traffic stop.

According to a police report, officers stopped Anthony Seidita, 53, last Saturday on Interstate 680 before the Connecticut Avenue exit for a traffic violation.

Police say Seidita was acting nervous and kept his head down as to conceal something. When officers looked in Seidita’s mouth, they saw a bag containing a white powder about the size of a quarter, the report stated.

Officers told Seidita to spit the bag out, but they say he refused and instead bent over “took a deep swallow” and ate the suspected crack cocaine.

Seidita was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence. He was also issued a citation for the traffic violation.
