Local News

Officers say they were called after a report that a man locked his ex-girlfriend inside a home, beat her and then fired a gun.

They say the incident happened in the 3600 block of Beechwood Pl.

The victim told officers that she went to speak with her ex-boyfriend about their recent breakup. When she entered, he locked her inside the home, according to a police report.

The discussion became an argument and she told that officers the man punched and kicked her on the head and other parts of her body. He then took her cell phone, according to the report.

The woman said she tried to leave the house, but he fired a gun, according to the report.

She told police that she was able to convince him to give her the phone back. She then called her cousin, who took her to Mercy Health in Boardman to treat her injuries.

Police are investigating, but the suspect hasn’t been charged yet.
