YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested two suspects who they say were involved in the robbery of a Family Dollar store on Glenwood Avenue.
It happened Wednesday afternoon, just before 1 p.m.
A witness followed a car suspected to be involved in the robbery to a home on W. Ravenwood, according to a police report. Police later received a report that the vehicle was in the area of Idlewood and W. Boston avenues.
Police stopped the driver, Donna Ross, and questioned her about being at the store.
She told police that she took a man named Robert to the store and later dropped him off in the 100 block of W. Ravenwood Avenue, according to the report.
Police searched a home there and found Robert Perry in an upstairs bedroom.
Police said Perry was the same man seen on surveillance video from the robbery.
Employees said the robber pulled out a gun and demanded money. When they told him that they couldn’t open the register, he pulled the register out and ran from the store with it, according to the report.
Employees said the man got into a silver Cobalt that was parked in the parking lot, and they left the area.
Police said Perry changed his clothes after the robbery.
Found in the vehicle was a duffel bag filled with men’s clothing and personal grooming products, according to the report. Police said there were also prescription drugs for another man in the trunk.
A police report did not list whether any other evidence was found but said police were continuing to investigate and search for new evidence.
Perry and Ross are charged with aggravated robbery.
