Two Youngstown police officers were awarded on Thursday at Happy Campers daycare for attempting to save the infant in a triple homicide in November.

Edward Morris, 21, Valarcia Blair, and 3-month old Tariq Morris were killed in a shooting on Nov. 7 on Pasadena Avenue.

Elizabeth Green had the chance to thank officers Casey Kelly and Greg Tackett for attempting to save her grandson.

Kelly and Tackett were also given awards by the Increase the Peace organization.

They rushed the three-month old to the hospital when they felt the ambulance was taking too long.

“I know they did all they could to help save my baby and I’m just so thankful,” Green says.

The baby later died in the hospital from gunshot wounds.

Youngstown detectives are still investigating to find the person who shot and killed the three people.
