YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – New Lease on Life Rescue has confirmed that a dog previously reported to be stolen has been returned to the rescue and is settling down.

Youngstown State University police were investigating the reported theft during a “Puppy Palooza” event at Youngstown State University, a university source confirmed.

The report was taken by police at 2:30 p.m.

YSU students reported seeing someone walk off with the dog, named Lego, during the event, according to a post on New Lease on Life Rescue’s Facebook page.

Just after 7 p.m., New Lease on Life Rescue posted to its Facebook page that police were able to catch up with the man who reportedly took the dog around 6 p.m., and the dog was safely released.

As part of Puppy Palooza, students were invited to play with adoptable puppies to help reduce stress outside of the Campus Rec. Donations were also accepted for the animal shelter.
