YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Police are looking for a man charged in connection to a shooting overnight in Youngstown.
Police say Benjamin White, 26, is wanted on felonious assault and aggravated robbery charges.
According to a news release from the police department, White robbed a 42-year-old man of cash and then shot him before he ran away from the scene.
The shooting happened just before midnight Monday in the 200 block of Gaither Ave.
The victim and a woman who was with the victim called police to report the crime.
Police said White should be considered armed and dangerous. Those who know his whereabouts are asked to contact their local police department.
According to police in East Palestine, White is also facing charges there, accused of falsely taking advantage of a program offered to victims of the East Palestine train derailment.
A warrant for his arrest was filed earlier this month on theft by deception and falsification charges.
Investigators say White provided fictitious hotel receipts to Norfolk Southern, did not live in East Palestine and used a fictitious address to receive over $16,000 that was meant for displaced residents.
