YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police said a mother and two of her children were wounded in a shooting Sunday evening as they were driving down a South Street.

The three were at Hillman Street and West Judson Avenue when someone in another car fired several shots at their car. 

The woman driver and her children, a 5-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center to be treated for gunshot wounds.

Chief of Detectives Captain Jason Simon said all three were struck by gunfire but are expected to recover.

Simon said police do not believe the shooting is a random crime but he did not want to speculate on who the target of the crime was.
